Karma’s A Bitch: Fyre Festival Edition

Billy McFarland, the 26-year-old promoter of the infamous Fyre Festival, pled guilty to fraud in Manhattan federal court recently after making a deal with prosecutors.

The Fyre Festival was promoted heavily on social media as a luxury music festival a la Cochella packed with models, influencers, and celebrities with packages ranging from a mere $1200 to well over $100k.

“I grossly underestimated the resources that would be necessary to hold an event of this magnitude,”

The reality was a far cry from the hype as musical acts canceled, the ‘gourmet’ food was non-existent, and the sleeping arrangements far from the ultra-luxury festival goers were promised.

McFarland has been out on bail since his June 2017 arrest & will be back in court for his sentencing June 21st.
